Wallpaper 25

Playing around with a wee bit of a hack to allow me to host big ol' wallpapers on Dropbox and post them here on the blog... hope this works. As usual click for biggerification.

Röhrlpaper 21

I'm so sorry...

...it's just that I love making bad puns, particularly ones involving the name of rally legend Walter Röhrl. Unfortunately in the Venn Diagram that shows the set of people who appreciate my sense of humour and the set of people who in conversation know who Walter Röhrl is, the intersection of the two is an arid and lonely place.

Here's Stanley!

Before making his name as a director Stanley Kubrick was a traditional stills photographer.

The almost maniacal obsession with composition that he became famous for comes across loud and clear - they're almost too perfectly capturing my fantasy of the Boroughs of New York post-war that I think they might be some mawkish art direction for a luxury brand inspired by Mad Men or Raging Bull...

The Museum of the City of New York has over seven thousand images here

Picture Book

The prospect of showing some work at Saturnalia has lit a fire under me and prompted me to gather together the vector illustrations I've done into one place. I'm rather pleased with the result.

poster

Not really sure what's going on here... just pulled together various illustrations and bits that I had lying around on my hard drive with a vague idea of 'biker heraldry' in the back of my mind.

super unleaded

Some nice news on the wireless this morning. Two petrol station canopies have been given listed building status. Long time fan of Googie so it's lovely to see it recognised. There was also a refreshing lack of harrumphing when the Today programme reported it - Good to see that it only takes about 40 years for bold architecture to stop causing knee-jerk criticism.
